What is a 1000 kVA compact substation?

1000 kVA Compact Substation (Compact Substation), commonly known as "box-type substation" or "prefabricated substation", is a complete set of factory prefabricated power distribution equipment. It integrates high-voltage switchgear, 1000 kVA distribution transformers and low-voltage distribution devices in one or more sturdy metal boxes according to a predetermined electrical wiring scheme.


Unlike traditional substations that require a large amount of civil construction on site, compact substations achieve "plug and play". It integrates various functions such as transformer, power distribution, metering, protection and compensation. It is a brand-new transformer and distribution device that has emerged after civil substations, especially suitable for urban network construction and transformation.

1. Ultimate space saving

 

This is the most distinctive feature of compact substations. By arranging or tightly arranging the high-voltage chambers, transformer chambers, and low-voltage chambers in multiple layers, their area is usually only 1/10 to 1/5 of that of traditional civil substations. Environmental isolation: High-pressure and low-pressure equipment are sealed in metal boxes, which are not disturbed by external dust, moisture, and small animals (such as rats and snakes), and have high operating reliability.

 

Oil-free design: dry-type transformers or fully sealed mineral oil transformers are usually used, which fundamentally eliminates the hidden dangers of fire and oil leakage and meets fire protection specifications.

Due to the use of maintenance-free or less maintenance-free advanced equipment (such as oil-free switches, dry transformers), and the box itself has good anti-corrosion and anti-rust capabilities, the substation can be in good condition for maintenance, greatly reducing the workload and cost of daily inspections and maintenance.
