In the power system, the Medium voltage switchgear (Medium Voltage switchgear) is the key hub connecting high-voltage transmission and low-voltage power distribution, and is usually responsible for the distribution and control of electrical energy in the voltage range of 3kV to 40.5kV.If the transformer is compared to the heart, the switchgear is the "joint" and "gate" that control the direction of blood flow. Through circuit breakers or load switches, the circuit is turned on or off under normal or fault conditions to realize the distribution and control of electrical energy.

When the system is overloaded, shorted, or grounded, the current transformer (CT) and voltage transformer (PT) transmit signals to the relay protection device, which quickly instructs the circuit breaker to trip and isolate the fault area.

Isolation
